Cape Town – a candidate to be the World Design Capital 2014
Many South Africans would agree that Cape Town is indeed South Africa’s Design Capital. The architecture in the city bowl is a fusion of contemporary skyscrapers, prime examples of art deco and century old structures that are sometimes only notices when we look up. In and out of these buildings mill the people of Cape Town an eclectic crowd that dress for themselves and wear clothing to make a statement, even if they’re just buying milk. Even the mountain is a one of a kind design, with nothing else in the world quite like it. But to be a candidate to be the World Design Capital 2014, the design in question is not only beauty, it is about functionality and how innovation in design can over come obstacles such as lack of funding, and elevate the living standards of every citizen.
Good Luck Cape Town and to all our innovative designers.
